It is highly likely you will have heard of the Australian wine label of Hardy’s.   For many, they are the wines that first enticed them into the world of wine!   We know the name Hardy’s for being that of Nottage Hill, Supermarkets and good value.   What is not widely known is that Hardy’s have some of the finest vineyards in Australia, which produce outstanding grapes and with this material they make hand-crafted, rare, ‘superwines’ to rival anything in New World.   These wines have had sporadic availability in the UK, and we are delighted to welcome Chief Winemaker, Paul Lapsley (who is a bit a legend himself) to Park House to guide us through these historic wines.

The wines on the night are as follows:

Sir James Hardys Brut 2008 En Magnum  - a rare and unavailable to buy 10-year-old sparkler

Heritage Reserve Bin Chardonnay 2015 & 2008

Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2014 & 1995

Heritage Reserve Bin Pinot Noir 2014

Eileen Hardy Pinot Noir 2013

Heritage Reserve Bin Shiraz 2013 & 2009

Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2007 and 1997 from Magnum!

Thomas Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 & 1995

Special Release Museum Stock Vintage Port 1975

Thomas Hardy

First released in 1989, our award-winning Thomas Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our greatest wines and a fitting tribute to our founder’s passion for winemaking. As South Australia’s first winemaker Thomas’s vision was to ‘create wines that will be prized in the markets of the world’. So continuing his vision, each year we select the best parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coonawarra`, Margaret River and Frankland River regions to create a refined and elegant wine, rich in flavour and with an outstanding palate.

Eileen Hardy

Eileen Hardy was our family matriarch, an indomitable spirit and the first lady of Australian wine. Since taking over at the helm from her late husband Tom Mayfield Hardy, Eileen continued to build the Hardys brand and was recognised with an OBE for her outstanding contribution to the Australian wine industry.

Her unwavering dedication to the family led to her four children honouring her 80th birthday with a special vintage, which was served at her legendary open house birthday party. The wine was so well received by Eileen, and her guests that supplies soon dwindled and an award-winning icon was born.

HRB

In 1865 Thomas Hardy had the foresight to begin blending grapes from different regions, believing that the blending would enhance the different qualities of the grapes. His vision proved to be right, and it has since become the inspiration for our Heritage Reserve Bin (HRB) range.

Our award-winning Heritage Reserve Bin range pushes the boundaries of winemaking through the regional cross blending of hand-selected grapes.
